Dallas FBI CAAA sponsored and assisted with this year’s Doug Woodham Dallas Junior Police Academy class on Saturday, June 4, 2016. The all day class (from 8:00 to 4:45 PM) was held at the Dallas Police Academy on Red Bird Center Drive. We had approximately 60 students in the 4th-7th grades attend.
The Dallas Junior Police Academy is a daylong training sessions held on a Saturday. During each session, kids are challenged on decision making. They experience numerous hands-on activities such as the obstacle course and physical training to get the feel of what it would be like as a Dallas Police Academy recruit. The participants also get to meet officers from around the police department who are assigned to specialized units such as K-9, SWAT Team, Motorcycle Officers and Helicopter Unit. In addition, outstanding instructors discuss important topics that today’s kid should know about, like how to combat drugs and gangs.
