Special Agent in Charge Matthew DeSarno
Matthew DeSarno was named Special Agent in Charge, of the FBI Dallas Field Office, in May 2019. DeSarno first applied to the Bureau when he was an U.S. Army Infantry Officer, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. However, due to a FBI hiring freeze, DeSarno worked briefly in the private sector after his military service obligation before joining the Academy in June 2002. DeSarno’s FBI work has focused on violent gang activity and counterterrorism. For the first half of 2021, he and his team have been working to identify and apprehend suspects in the January 6th Capitol siege.
