ACTIVE SHOOTER
HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT | ACTIVE AGGRESSOR PROGRAM

February 23, 2017 8:30am – 4:30pm
Eisemann Center 2351 Performance Drive, Richardson, TX

Did you know that between 2000 – 2015 the FBI identified 200 active shooter incidents involving 205 shooters in the U.S.?  Those shooters had 213 handguns and 107 long guns.  Did you know that, 63% of the shooters carried a single firearm and 37% carried multiple firearms?  Did you also know that the shooter did not use every weapon that they carried?

An interesting note:  In general an active shooter is more likely to use a handgun than a long gun to carry out the shooting.  Two exceptions:  Shooters used an equal number of rifles and shotguns in 2002; more shooters used long guns than handguns in 2013.

The Dallas FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association is pleased to provide our Active Shooter training again this year.  Based upon several events we are expanding the program to include Active Shooter/Hostile Environment/Situational Awareness training.  For instance, in Boston two brothers used specialized bombs to disrupt the annual Boston Marathon (killing three and injuring 264 people), in San Bernardino a husband and wife team killed 14 people and injured 22 others. In Dallas a lone gunman killed five police officers and injured seven others.  Eleven people were injured on the campus of Ohio State University when a man used his vehicle and a knife as weapons to attack people.

This year’s course will cover (but is not limited to) Active shooter trends (managing a violent crime scene); Triggers to an active shooter event; Take the Shot or Not? Legal issues; Conflict Resolution/Elements of your Hostile Environment Plan; Situational Awareness; After the shots – Emotional Impact; Social Media and the shooter.  This year’s program will be a detailed, expanded, educational experience.  We look forward to you being part of this great event.

Who should attend:  We live in a world that is ever changing.  This program is for everyone.  The material to applies to companies of all sizes, government agencies, churches, schools and everyone who is interested in learning more about this subject.
