Crystal Moore has worked with domestic violence and sexual assault organizations for 15 years and has been with Brighter Tomorrows since January, 2021. Many people that work in this field do so due to a personal event or tragedy. She, however, was pulled in by the numbers. One in three Texas women will experience sexual assault. One in three women will experience a form of intimate partner violence/domestic violence. “One in three devastates me”, said Crystal. She has two daughters in college and when she heard of the “1 in 3”, she realized that those statistics pointed to herself or one of her daughters as being a potential victim. Since she has not experienced either trauma, that leaves her daughters as potential victims. It became apparent to her to make a difference. Being part of Brighter Tomorrows and reaching out to organizations such as the Dallas CAAA is how she is preventing “1 in 3”.
Please remember that as a FBI Chapter, the expectation is that we support projects we find or respond to requests for help, the initiatives of the FBI. Brighter Tomorrows is the perfect example of Community Outreach by the Dallas Chapter as we would be assisting victims and their children of violence. The organization was hard hit by the February snow storm with flooding into their main pantry for their facilities. They have a playground that needs some “TLC” that I am sure our membership has the talents and knowledge to make it happen for the children. I am asking members to join Crystal Moore and I for a quick meeting to hear whether you would be able to assist with physical donations on Saturday, June 19th and/or help with a playground project.
Just a few minutes of your time could make a tremendous difference for some children in need of our support. I look forward to seeing you on June 15th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you cannot make the Zoom meeting, please reach out to me directly, if the playground project is of interest to you.
